Manufactured from medium-carbon alloy steel and heat-treated through oil quenching and tempering processes, it delivers exceptional tensile strength-approximately 80,000 psi-balanced with excellent flexibility and durable abrasion resistance.

• D-shape/square cross-section: The sharp, flat outer edges bite effectively into logs-even on frosty or smooth surfaces-offering improved holding and reduced slip when forming chokers or pulling logs

• High strength-to-weight ratio: G80 chain is proof-tested and OSHA-approved for overhead lifting-and although forestry strapping isn't direct overhead lifting, the same robust performance applies3/16″ chain for trailers up to ~2,000 lbs with 3/8″ S-hook

• Abrasion & temperature resistance: Retains working load across −40°F to about +400°F (−40°C to +204°C) with negligible strength loss. At higher temperatures (up to ~1000°F), it maintains acceptable working load limits even during and post-lift

• Regular wear checks: Replace once link elongation hits ~3%, or if visible surface pitting/cracking is present-even under 10× magnification.

• Temperature exposure: For operations repeatedly exceeding +40°F (204°C), recognize that chain capacity may temporarily or permanently decrease.

• Traceability: Always verify stamped grade markings and ensure chain meets applicable standards (e.g. EN818-2, ASMEB30.9) for your region.
